I remember back in the 90s when Step Class was the big thing. I tried it a few times and was really, truly awful at it. I’m not the most coordinated girl. And I am a teeny bit self-conscious in group classes. So, it’s safe to say that stepping was not my favorite thing.
Now that I’m a little (okay, a lot) older and wiser, I can appreciate the stepper as a really versatile piece of fitness equipment. Mostly because I can work out with it in my living room now and not worry about other people laughing at me! 🙂
This workout was designed to use the stepper in a slightly different way than those old aerobic classes – it’s still got the cardio work, but there’s a lot of strength training, too. STEPPER METCON | Tough 30 Minute CARDIO + STRENGTH Workout for Fat Loss
Set your timer for 30 second intervals. Only the first exercise in the pair (cardio work) is timed, the other (strength work) is for reps.
- 30 seconds of Step Ups + 10x Fast Ups on each side
- 30 seconds of Lateral Step-Overs + 10x Walking Pushups
- 30 seconds of Toe Tappers + 10x Split Squats on each side
- 30 seconds of Jump Ups + 10x Single Leg Bridges on each side
- 30 seconds of Straddle Squats + 10x Foot Walkers on each side
Repeat circuit 3x, then finish off the workout with 30 seconds of Lateral Hopover Burpees.
