And here we go, into the month of CRAZY! Oops, totally meant to type the word “May” there. But crazy works, too. 😜
I have sort of a love-not love relationship with the month of May. On the one hand, it’s my anniversary (22 years of wedded bliss this year!), and on the other… I seem to know one million people with May birthdays, and there is the never-ending stream of “end of the school year” awards and banquets and concerts and finals and parties that are fun but also sort of exhausting.
As a trainer, I have always noticed the seasonal nature of the fitness business. Winter holidays mean fewer workouts, then the New Year brings out LOTS of newbies with big goals. Spring and Fall are busy for me when the weather is moderate and everybody is thinking about their fitness, wanting to look and feel their best for the holidays or the beach. Then clients start taking summer vacations in May and get busy with family picnics and camping and other outdoor pursuits until sometime around mid- to late August.
Traditionally, I have fought against this cycle, bringing my “A” game to the slow seasons (hello, #HOT100 and Festival of HIITs!) in an attempt to persuade the masses that indoor fitness is a year-round pursuit.
But this year, I finally figured something out and I’m doing things differently: I realized that even die-hard exercisers like YOU are looking to change things up during these beautiful summer months, so I’m leaning in and embracing the season of indoor workout “slow down.”
For the next few months – for literally the first time since I became a fitness professional six years ago – I’ll be enjoying time with my family, backing off (slightly!) from work, dreaming up new projects (writing a book?) and gearing up for an epic personal challenge (running 110k/68 miles) in September.
What does this mean for you? Have no fear!
😅 I will still be posting new workout videos on YouTube.
😅 And I will definitely still be creating these weekly Mini Challenges! Because no matter how crazy your summer gets, you can always use a little challenge in your life.

On MONDAY, we’re starting the week with an all-new TOTAL BODY TONING HIIT, a 15 minute stackable workout with light to medium weight dumbbells that is tough and effective!
TUESDAY’S routine is super fast and fun, no repeat LOW IMPACT WORKOUT with unusual exercises that’ll make the 20 minutes fly by.
WEDNESDAY’S workout is a 30 minute KETTLEBELL BURN + TONE, designed for full body shaping as well as getting in a great calorie burn.
On THURSDAY, we’re picking up heavy things and putting them down again with this SUPER SCULPTING STRENGTH routine. It’s all weights and no cardio, but don’t let the low(er) heart rate fool you – this toughie is building long, lean beautiful muscles, even with a slow(er) pace.
And FRIDAY, we’re finishing with a finisher, of course! You’ve never experienced a CARDIO MELTDOWN like this one before – we’re going 10-20-30 style in a non-stop, heart pounding workout that will leave you sweaty and ready for the weekend.
