A few years ago, I found myself in uncharted territory, after years of being fit and slim. I was dealing simultaneously with the loss of my beloved sister, an empty nest, and a workout routine that changed (seemingly overnight!) from successful and satisfying to exhausting and unproductive.
I gained weight, I lost my drive, and honestly, I was just… stuck.
My body had changed. And I realized pretty quickly that my mind needed to change, too.
We live in a world dominated by 20- and 30-year old fitness instructors who are making workouts and giving advice like “Eat less and move more” or “No pain, no gain” – that totally got results when we were 20 or 30. Maybe even 40.
But now? We need a different approach for this different body.
At the age of 50, after years of being a tough and successful fitness trainer, I changed everything I thought I knew about losing weight and getting in shape: I took my workouts down a notch (and then two, and then three). I prioritized fueling my body, drinking plenty of water, recovering fully, and really listening to what I was saying to myself.
I changed my mind. Which changed my body.
I unlocked a door that I thought might be closed for good, with the simplest keys!
And now I’m sharing my secrets with YOU.
My friends, around here there’s no deprivation, no working harder or longer, no shame, no guilt, no putting yourself down. We don’t compare ourselves to a younger version of us, we move with love and we eat what we want in portions that make sense for our goals.
